Just another week before our September break; hard to believe how the time has gone by. Hopefully we will have some pleasant fall weather to look forward to after the break.

We have been studying clouds and precipitation in science, and today made a model of a hailstone. Ask your students to explain how a hailstone is formed, as many people aren't sure! Next week, we will continue with weather fronts, weather maps and forecasting. We will also learn about weather instruments.

In math, we are coming to the end of our unit on addition and subtraction. Students have shown a good grasp of these concepts, and we will be having our chapter test on Thursday of next week. After that, we will begin multiplication.

We continue to study literary elements in reading, which will be interspersed with informational reading integrated with the content areas. This is linked to our next writing assignment, which is a narrative.

I trust that you will all have an enjoyable and relaxing fall break, and I look forward to the next nine weeks.
