Good day parents and students- just wanted to remind you of our field trip to the Cobb Youth Museum, which will take place on Friday March 10. As we will be going off school property, I must have the permission slip signed, or your student cannot go. Please try to get that back to me as soon as possible.

Also, during the February break, we will have another reading challenge. As the Milestones are fast approaching, it is a good idea to encourage students to read often and for longer periods, so that they can build the reading stamina they need to be successful in the Milestones.

We will begin learning about the American Revolution in social studies this week, which I think students will find very interesting. In math, we continue with fractions. This week we will begin improper fractions, and mixed numbers. If students need to look at these concepts again, Khan academy offers video clips which explain concepts very clearly. (https://www.khanacademy.org/math/arithmetic/fraction-arithmetic/arith-review-mixed-number/v/changing-an-improper-fraction-to-a-mixed-number)

We will be working on reading skills; identifying main idea and summarizing. We also read our Social Studies Weekly articles; students have made wonderful progress with these and most are managing to do consistently well with the reading and questions.

Wishing you all a good week. Please contact me at sally.bocarro@cobbk12.org, with any questions or concerns you may have.
