Hard to believe that we've already had 2 weeks of 4th grade! Students are doing extremely well, and have adjusted to the classroom routine with ease. I am enjoying my new fourth grade family very much. 

We have made good progress with academics; in social studies, we have been studying maps and map features. We should be coming to the end of this unit on Friday, so I would like to test on Tuesday, August 23. Students will take home their social studies journals, which will have all the information they need to study for the test. 

In math, we continue to learn about place value. Students need a solid understanding of these concepts, as we build on them throughout the year. 

We will be starting informational reading and writing in the coming week.  Students will be conducting research, and then writing an informational essay based on what they have learned. I hope they will find this interesting and enjoyable.
